There are actually people who can do those embroidery projects like you see in Marie Claire Idées magazine! Witness French blogger Adèle’s handywork:

If you like embroidery, you might like to check out the French link Des Histoires à Broder.

Also, I just love this long apron design of Adèle’s:

And what a great idea to use the tree as a model!

I have a real soft spot for aprons and have been collecting them since I was a little girl (that doesn’t mean that I’ve saved them all; darn). Here is a view of just a smattering of mine:

I like them so much that I’ve been wearing the femmy floral ones to the Farmers Market, and a sturdy vintage denim one when I go to the hardware store — which can sometimes be a couple of times a day. My dream home would be sandwiched inbetween a hardware store and a plant nursery!

Sylvie, I thought I left you a comment about the aprons, maybe typepad lost it.
I love everything you show here. The idea of the model/tree is wonderful.
    Again, your aprons are fantastic.
    Thanks for the links!

My hands were itching to comment on all this talk about aprons when I discovered my own collection in your posting. Thanks for including this. I feel honored. I love your idea of wearing them out to the hardware store. Your collection looks fantastic.

Aprons are so handy!! I’m kicking myself at the vintage aprons I passed on at a thrift sale a few years ago…I’m now inspired to make a few, thank you!

Sylvie, there are two soon to be published books that remind me of you. One is “The French-Inspired Home” from the owners of the shop French General

and the other is “Creole Thrift” from New Orleans designer Angele Parlange. Maybe you’ll love these!
    Cheers,
