Indulge me while I purge these celebrity comings and goings from my psyche. It's been a whirlwind lately. My Marcel had the honor of being the mascot, Little Globie, for the Harlem Globetrotters at the San Jose Arena which he reveled in. He got to go in and out of the dressing room with all of the big guys. And some of them are really big guys! Following that he was a special guest of Corbin Bleu's at the Oakland Arena. He looks up to Corbin (note the first name basis) and got to ask him all sorts of lingering questions, such as what kind of music he likes. I was pleasantly surprised to hear that he likes all kinds of music — jazz, reggae, blues, opera. He said he draws the line at country though. Here are some cute shots of Marcel (without his enormous fuzzy globe head on) with Curly from the Globetrotters and Corbin Bleu:

Marcel was so upset with me because I cut his hair before Corbin's show, "I had a really cool 70s hair style!" In fact this photo is the antithesis of one I took of them a week earlier when my batteries went dead in the camera. They were both dressed in black and Corbin had a five-o'clock shadow. This is the angelic version, just by chance.

Also recently, my stepson from Maui came for a visit which is always a gift as we don't get to see him very often. He's a surf instructor/paprazzi. What a combo! He called us the other day while sitting on the beach next to Will Smith whose kids he was giving surfing lessons to. The funny thing about his vacation photos while visiting with us is that you can really tell that they are taken by a paparazzi photographer. It's hysterical! He would lay-in-wait for us, as in the photos below, and voila, celebrity family coming out of In-n-Out Burger. Ha! I laughed so hard when I saw these photos. My Britney Spears moment. Ha!

Next in this cavalcade of stars… now follow me on this one: my cousin's daughter-in-law, turned ex-daughter-in-law, Megan Joy Corkrey (Corkrey is my Mom's family) was a contestant on American Idol. I wish I could have given her advice on her wardrobe and song choices. I could've made her a star!

I never thought in a million years that I would have a reason to watch American Idol, but having a "family" member on got me started, then seeing and hearing Adam Lambert, among others, got me hooked! Megan has since been voted off but now I'm passionately rooting for Adam! If you know me, even just a bit, you know how unusual it is for me to watch something like this. I'm a Masterpiece Theater snob!

Now here's where it gets really interesting. I should've posted this last week as I had planned to, then you would have really gotten the full impact of the psychic powers I'm about to describe. Richard has always been astounded by my uncanny gift for saying
things while watching TV only to have the film character, sports
announcer, etc., repeat the exact thing that I had just said. I'm
talking about obscure things. For instance, while watching the weather: "I
wonder what the humidity level was last Wednesday." And low and behold
by some freakish twist the weather man will suddenly for no reason
what-so-ever start talking about last Wednesday's humidity.

About a week and half ago I saw the Will Smith/Rasario Dawson film Seven Pounds. Loved it. Have gone around everyday since then singing a song from the film, Feeling Good performed by Muse, driving everyone crazy. And I said to my Richard, "I wish that I could somehow get ahold of Adam Lambert and tell him to sing this song. This song is meant for him. Simon would love it if he sang this song."

Now hear this. Last night on American Idol Adam Lambert sang Feeling Good! I can't tell you how loud I screamed. I could hardly contain myself. That has surpassed any other psychic TV moment I have ever had! "What???!!!!! He sang the song I wanted him to sing????!!!!" And sing it he did!! He's such a pure entertainer. I don't care if you don't like his style, you have to love his talent and his spirit. He is made for the stage. Kris Allen, Allison Iraheta and Danny Gokey will all get careers out of this, but Adam should win. He's such a natural.

I found a video of the film version of the song performed by Muse, and in the process a great blog. Many thanks to Monte of ReelSoundtrack for posting it, along with an exhaustive list of the other songs from the film and their relation to the specific scenes. You're a gem Monte. Check out Seven Pounds for an engaging story and knockout performances by Smith and Dawson and the support cast, powerful screenplay by a first-time feature writer Grant Nieporte, brilliant direction from Italian director Gabriele Muccino (Pursuit of Happyness) and more. And don't forget to vote for Adam!

This is one fab and wild and wacky post! I love it!
    And Marcel is super cool!
Maybe one day he’ll be on Idol, and OMG sing Feeling Good.
    BTW I adore Adam Lambert!

Glad you enjoyed it Valorie. And you’re right! Marcel and Adam have a lot in common — born a few days apart (same sign), and they both have had the same little acorn from the start, what with dress-up and hamming it up, etc. Marcel spends a good part of the time acting out roles for us and reciting lines he’s memorized. He also has a natural ability vocally.
    Wow. Mommy Blah Blah!
I’m getting closer to the move to our new place and so….closer to my tango lessons!!

I hadn’t really gotten interested in Idol and even Adam at first made me think…just a shrill Rocky Horror Picture Show groupie. But Now! It’s the Adam Lambert Show as far as I’m concerned and really I only watch it when he comes on -Brett tells me he’s up. Your psychic prediction for song choice? Perfect. I keep thinking of things for him to sing but none have come true! I didn’t see 7lbs. so I think of the Nina Simon version of the song. In fact I think of the Trip Hop remix version of Nina Simon’s version since that’s what I have on iTunes.

I can relate to so much of what you’re saying Scott. If Richie’s out of the room me and Marcel will call out, “Adam’s on!”
I won’t be able to predict the song for next week. The category, Rock’n’Roll, is too broad. Although, he is a Bowie fan, so maybe Bowie. He also likes Hendrix. But that’s a conscious prediction. Not half as fun as a psychic prediction.
I found some more things for you in my garage yesterday. I’ll mail them after my move on the tenth.

I can hardly wait for Adam to escape the confines of the show although he’s doing so well with what he’s got.
Re: Megan. She charmed me at least once but by the end she was totally creeping me out. Yes, she needs good advice!

    Scott,
Believe it or not we’re scheduling our move around next week’s show. “Well, let’s see if we move the TV in that load we won’t be able to watch Idol.”!
I know what you mean about Megan 🙂
